Hello everyone? No one? Anyone? This is quite scary, I feel like I'm writing for a crowd, but there just isn't a crowd.... yet....
So, seeing as my associate, and best friend, W didn’t introduce me, i’m N. And yes actually there are two of us writing this blog. Sadly we can’t have two accounts writing on the same blog, so we just show who it is writing but signing of as –W or –N. Clever, huh? That is one of my more brilliant ideas.
Niceties being established let’s get down to business. Tonight was harbour nights, which is like a weekly celebration of how many tourists can be trick into vacationing on this god forsaken island. There are lots of fun things to do, for example you can get your face painted with rash inducing chemicals or you can eat artery blocking fast food. What fun!
And if that isn’t enough and you fall into the miniscule category of teenagers who are currently resident on the rock but don’t enjoy taking drugs and drinking alcohol illegally, there is still the enjoyment of seeing a lot of people you know but wish would ignore you. As customary, they walk up to you and, while breathing a fowl smelling lungful of air at you, declare to the whole world (well, the whole island at least) that you were best friends in Year 3. Great, right?
Then here comes the real kicker, the performances. So you’ve settled yourself, and your group, standing on the corner of the pavement so that you can actually see the pathetic marching band and second rate Irish dancers, which really weren’t worth the effort of watching. Slowly the pavement begins to fill up and soon you find your group is crushed together or is otherwise disbanded. Suddenly the heat, that was so graphically described in my friends earlier post, seems to increase and you are really regretting that snow cone as your stomach has decided to bloat outward just to cause you havoc in the already too crowed street. Humidity drowns you and despite all of the moisture in the air your throat is parched and scratchy.
Finally the damn dancing ends and your group decide it is time to retreat. First you have to escape the bustling crowd that has formed around you. You push, you shove, and you still aren’t free. Frustration wells up inside you as you watch the hundreds of people around you. Some of them are trying to go in the same direction as you, these people you feel the most sympathy for, then there are the people who are trying to go in the opposite direction as you, they annoy you slightly but they are still moving and so you are not too vexed. Finally there is the group who bear the brunt of you anger, the stationary mules. I call them mules because getting them to move out of you way is about as easy as moving the most stubborn mule on this crazy planet. Some of them may be trying to watch the no existent dancers or maybe they have just given up at escaping. What really gets you is that they can see the chaos around them and they still refuse to stop staring blankly at the bare space in front of them. Arrg!
Phew! This is really good for getting anger out, I can’t believe that I never did his before. Anyway blogging time she leaves, sleepy time she comes. Night!
