Ssh! It's a Secret!
So guess what! I’m writing again, and yes I’m still in the land of the ‘ozzies’. I feel like I’m adjusting well and I’ve made a few good friends here. I hope I’ve gotten past the previous period of fright and have been able to relax a little. However I haven’t completely settled in yet; I’m still waking up in the middle of the night with jet lag, no matter how late I go to sleep and so I’m exhausted.
But that’s not all that still needs to be smoothed out around the edges. I actually lost my timetable and had to ask for another one, and I have gotten lost several times. Okay, maybe a few more than several. And I haven’t figured out how to get onto face book (sorry W we can’t talk just yet!). But hopefully they will all get sorted out. Hopefully.
But I have some good news! Actually really good news! But just to amp up the excitement I want you, W, or anyone else reading, to guess what the Great News is. I’ll give you a hint, think movie scene. Will tell you more details when ever I can get back on, but only if you’ve guessed it.

Picture Day and More Fun!
St Philips, Alice Springs
I’m in
Ok ay so I should be psyched but to be brutally honest i’m really terrified. And there is a huge hole in my heart because I miss my family and friends. And i’m afraid that the people aren’t going to like me or be like my awesome friends back home who will love me no matter what. And then I get mad at myself because i’m acting shy but when I act confident I feel creepy. So, so far I’m not feeling that awesome.
And my roomie, yes i’m sharing for the first time in my life, probably thinks i’m a psycho because i’m just a weird person. To top it off here they do things weirdly, like saying grace and what not and i’m afraid to do anything in case I offend someone or look like an idiot.
But the good thing is that i’m only here for a month so it doesn’t really matter. But I still worry because i’m a plonker.
Just for your info:
· My rommie’s name is Donal, and she seems cool but a little quiet. And she snores, which is great because I feel it really relaxing. (okay okay I know i’m weird)
· My exchange person is called Bree and she seems pretty damn awesome. shes not the type of person i would normally be friends with but i actually really like her.
· One of my friends here is called Hannah and she is awesome and plays the guitar and wrote me a song.
But i’m still petrified,

Extreme Airport Angst
‘Ello, ‘ello, ‘ello.
Greetings from somewhere between the Atlantic Ocean and Australia. I feel bad because W has writing far more entries than me but to be fair my entry was a lot longer than hers. And I’ve been busy packing for my trip to Australia!
Yep I’m off to
Firstly, I had to wake up at 5:30 this morning. Now currently I’ve been on summer break which means I’ve been staying up late and sleeping in. So that came as a shock to the system. And last night I had nightmares that I missed my flight. (Oh My God I’m turning into my mother! I thought that didn’t happen until I was middle-aged!) and so I conclude that wacky body clock + fear of missing flight + fear of turning into my mother + early wake up time = very little sleepy time. Not the best way to start out a two day journey.
Secondly, I hate flying. Trust me as soon as they invent teleportation I will never touch an airplane again. You have my word. Seriously, what is there to like? What is the redeeming feature? I mean, flying is the bane of my existence. It is to me what Heathcliff is to Linton. It is to me what Voldemort is to Harry Potter. It is to me what Sauron is to Frodo. Okay so you get the point. Flying is my arch nemesis and I’m a fantasy nerd. So shoot me! No actually, please don’t.
Thirdly, I am bloated beyond this world will allow. They don’t sell any food in airports except stuff that is fatty, fried, battered, grease, fried again, covered in bread crumbs and fried again just to make sure you have a heart attack. Even the salads are covered in a high fat dressing that gives them the same caloric value as Double Mac Burger and fries. I mean how hard is it to import a little fruit and veggies? I mean beyond the stir fry Chinese that may not be fried but is neck high in sodium. How about an apple? Ever heard of that?
Fourthly, (this is a very long list), there are freaking security guards everywhere. I mean they are swarming the place like ants. And they do just about as much work. Actually I take that back. A bunch of ants would be much more effective as employees. No seriously, they should replace all of the security guards with ants. I mean the ants can carry like three times their weight, they are pretty loyal, they don’t need to be paid, and they don’t go on vacation, ask for maternity leave or retire, ever. They work till they die!
Fifthly, I have never encountered more uncomfortable seats than the seats on an airplane. Nope, sorry I take that back too. The seats in airport lounges are much less comfortable. I mean it’s not like it would cost much more to get the sweat shop in china that made them to put a bit more padding on them. And why are there arm rest every seat? Surely they should understand that some people are laying over for a fair few hours and they could do with a bit of kip. So put the arm rest every other seat, or every two seats. That way the money you save from reducing the armrests you can put into adding padding to the seats.
Sixthly, they always put the plugs next to the trash cans and the least number of seats. So we find a suitable seat next to a plug, (and incidentally a trash can) with no other neighbours except for a slumbering elderly woman. Everything is perfect, or so it seems. Soon we discover that the plug doesn’t really work, the area is soon crowded with everyone queuing up to charge their laptops, everyone is shouting because their ears are still blocked from the flight and, oh the joy, the trash can is full and stinking. Oh and any hope of moving seat has been extinguished as all of the rest of the seats have been taken in the space of about fifteen minutes.
Seventhly, (I told you this was a long list), fights are NEVER on time! Yep the dreaded hour has arrive our flight has been delayed for one hour. This means the layover is actually longer then the flight. How the hell does that work?! You know, I think if the flight is delayed for more than, roughly, three hours through a fault of the airline you can sue them. As time passes that option is becoming more and more attractive.
Eighthly, the time difference is a real soul-breaker. Let me explain, when I am on my laptop I am constantly glancing at the clock to check the time. However my laptop clock is set to the time at home and so is incorrect here. So you can imagine how I feel. I glance at the clock. It says 6:13. Yes! I think, Only 1:15 until the flight! Then I remember about the time difference and my mood plummets. Damn it we still have 2:15 until we start boarding. Depressed I return to writing the blog only to glance at the clock again, get my hopes up and have them crushed again.
Ninthly, it is physically impossible for airport book stores to have any good books. The only thing they stock is boring business ‘how-to’ books, George W. Bush’s autobiography (where the most exciting thing is his ability to open a box of corn flakes without consulting his babysitters, I mean, ‘secret service’) and the Twilight series, they don’t even stock Harry Potter! I mean what type of half decent bookstore doesn’t even stock Harry Potter.
And I guess I could look in the other stores, like the over expensive tech store that stocks products only the richest of the rich could afford without taking out a second mortgage on their mansion, err, I mean house. Or I could look in the tourist store which is really just a half-hearted, last ditch effort for the country to rip-off some mindless, brain-dead, sorry excuse for a human who would really qualify better to be part of a herd of cattle than the human race. Yeah I would much rather spend time there. Not.
*Sighs*
Can you believe that you could make a nonagon with all of the reasons I have given for being angst-y at the moment? And guess what, there are plenty more where they came from. I haven’t even mentioned the amount of time we spent riding around on the air-train, aka the next-type train that only goes around the airport and is even more confusing than the London underground. Well almost. And the rather pathetic food court that we spent at least an hour trying to find and were then severely disappointed (understatement!) when we recognised how limited it really was. And all of the general idiots that surround us. I mean seriously this girl next to me is talking to a guy next to her who says he is from France, “Born and raised there,” I quote. Want to know her first question? Do ya? Do ya? Here it is, and I quote, “So do you speak French?”... I’m just gonna leave that to sink in...
And so now you understand the extent of my situation....
Oh the joys....
And that’s my time... good night everybody!

(Hot Guys at Beach)`
N + I went to the be-eeeaacchhh today, originally the intent was to shoot down the dreams of a player, but then of course that idea extended into us wanting to seek out the hotties that lay/run/whatever on the super hot sand of Horseshoe Bay.
TODAY. WAS. A. LET. DOWN. :O :(
Here's a rundown: we walk to another beach, meet up with (making up a codename for the guy we meet)...um...Klyde. :) Then we walked down the many trails all the way to Horseshoe, and then we parked our carcasses on some random end at the beach...oh, and N basically told him off for being a player and that nothing was going to work between them. So power to N! :D and then, oh yeah..we got the beach and deliberated over whether or not we were actually going to go swimming...anyways...Klyde was silent...the whole time. We all swam around and stuff, and even saw some kids from our school, twas awesome. N + I both saw the dismal outlook of our afternoon, when we noticed there were NO HOT GUYS. Later, we walked down the beach, and the lifeguards began walking up the shoreline parallel to us...
OH MY GOD. I COULD HAVE DIED. THEY WERE RIPPED, AND GORGEOUS. I had serious eye-to-eye contact + a smile from this toned blonde one..*eep* and usually I think blonde's are ick, but WOAH! WAS I WRONG! anyways, the afternoon ended with the return to N's house, and with a short goodbye to Klyde, who got a taste of his own medicine. So story of the day: get rid of jerks, & totally gaze at lifeguards..they save ur life, honestly. <3

Crowds Vex Me
So, seeing as my associate, and best friend, W didn’t introduce me, i’m N. And yes actually there are two of us writing this blog. Sadly we can’t have two accounts writing on the same blog, so we just show who it is writing but signing of as –W or –N. Clever, huh? That is one of my more brilliant ideas.
Niceties being established let’s get down to business. Tonight was harbour nights, which is like a weekly celebration of how many tourists can be trick into vacationing on this god forsaken island. There are lots of fun things to do, for example you can get your face painted with rash inducing chemicals or you can eat artery blocking fast food. What fun!
And if that isn’t enough and you fall into the miniscule category of teenagers who are currently resident on the rock but don’t enjoy taking drugs and drinking alcohol illegally, there is still the enjoyment of seeing a lot of people you know but wish would ignore you. As customary, they walk up to you and, while breathing a fowl smelling lungful of air at you, declare to the whole world (well, the whole island at least) that you were best friends in Year 3. Great, right?
Then here comes the real kicker, the performances. So you’ve settled yourself, and your group, standing on the corner of the pavement so that you can actually see the pathetic marching band and second rate Irish dancers, which really weren’t worth the effort of watching. Slowly the pavement begins to fill up and soon you find your group is crushed together or is otherwise disbanded. Suddenly the heat, that was so graphically described in my friends earlier post, seems to increase and you are really regretting that snow cone as your stomach has decided to bloat outward just to cause you havoc in the already too crowed street. Humidity drowns you and despite all of the moisture in the air your throat is parched and scratchy.
Finally the damn dancing ends and your group decide it is time to retreat. First you have to escape the bustling crowd that has formed around you. You push, you shove, and you still aren’t free. Frustration wells up inside you as you watch the hundreds of people around you. Some of them are trying to go in the same direction as you, these people you feel the most sympathy for, then there are the people who are trying to go in the opposite direction as you, they annoy you slightly but they are still moving and so you are not too vexed. Finally there is the group who bear the brunt of you anger, the stationary mules. I call them mules because getting them to move out of you way is about as easy as moving the most stubborn mule on this crazy planet. Some of them may be trying to watch the no existent dancers or maybe they have just given up at escaping. What really gets you is that they can see the chaos around them and they still refuse to stop staring blankly at the bare space in front of them. Arrg!
Phew! This is really good for getting anger out, I can’t believe that I never did his before. Anyway blogging time she leaves, sleepy time she comes. Night!

Meet my best friend: The Anti-Social Hermit
This one is concerning my best friend, read the title, very informative...
Tonight seems to be the night where we go out and prowl the streets in town, however she seems to be rather reluctant due to the fact that she does not want to SOCIALIZE. :( So sad, angst...and now she rants about her phone charger being unplugged. Oh dear. So anyways, our current status: sitting on her bed contemplating our next move..
Oh yeah, did I mention that we are only going to go if our other friend goes..so preparation may get wasted. Time to go do the impossible, my hermit's hair :)
